Hello there!
I’m a passionate leader and educator, always motivated by the mission in front of me. Throughout my career, I’ve found myself right at home in the realm of planning, supporting, and bringing various educational initiatives to life. My experience spans many terrains, from training bright-eyed pre-service teachers eager to make their mark to guiding experienced veterans who’ve seen it all. Coaching and developing others to reach their full potential? That’s my sweet spot.
Over a decade of classroom teaching forms the bedrock of my career, and I’ve been lucky enough to wear many hats along the way. I’ve carved out a niche in mentoring, and shaping beginning teachers in a bustling urban district. I’ve also embraced the challenges of being an Assistant Principal at a school committed to helping students who have fallen behind academically. I even had the thrilling opportunity to pioneer a brand-new school as its first Principal. Currently, I am shaping the future of teaching at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where I am the Director of master’s certification programs for teachers. Each of these roles has not only broadened my horizons but also deepened my understanding of what makes teaching and school leadership truly effective.
For my dissertation, I dove headfirst into an exploration of how school principals’ behaviors can influence the collective belief of teachers in their power to be effective – a concept known as collective teacher efficacy. It was a fascinating journey that continues to inform my work today. Now, I work alongside educational leaders, helping them discover and define their personal vision for leadership. Together, we figure out how to make their vision a reality – not just a concept, but a tangible, actionable plan.
Additionally, I take great pride in sparking a passion for professional growth in teachers through facilitating engaging and high-quality professional development sessions. It’s not just about delivering information – it’s about creating an environment where ideas evolve into strategies that really work in the classroom. And the magic happens when these strategies start to positively influence student achievement. There’s a certain joy in helping my fellow educators refine their craft, enhancing their ability to make a profound difference in the lives of their students.
At heart, I’m a true believer in the transformative power of collaboration. There’s something quite special about the confluence of diverse resources, unique perspectives, and insightful data. It’s like a puzzle waiting to be solved, and I genuinely enjoy that process – working together to build consensus, to unlock a team’s full potential.
I’d be absolutely thrilled to bring this passion for productive collaboration to your district and to use my skills and experience where they can make the biggest impact. As someone who’s dedicated my professional life to pursuing excellence in education, I’m excited about the possibility of joining forces with you. I can’t wait for us to roll up our sleeves, collaborate, and empower educators to make waves in their classrooms. Let’s connect soon and get the ball rolling!
